A creative and ingenious educational seminar has begun in the Social Centre of Caritas Hellas at Neos Kosmos, in collaboration with International Organization of Migration concerning “Tourism Perspectives and Development of Tour Guiding Skills”. The seminar will help the participants enhance their skills and obtain valuable knowledge regarding the most profitable industry in Greece, tourism.
The participants of the educational project are sprung from the Social Spot of Neos Kosmos along with others from official Open Accommodation Site for refugees in Attica region. During the first two weeks, the participants attended with excitement the first seminars learning about tourism prospects, basic guiding principles, Greek history and mythology. The theoretical classes are delivered by the Dr. Antonios Giannopoulos Adjunct Lecturer at the University of the Aegean. Furthermore, in order to connect the history with the locations at the historic center of Athens, a field trip was carried out, in several archaeological sites and the Museum of Acropolis, escorted be a professional tour guide. The team was excited with the rich history of the historical center of Athens along with its mythology.
The participants confessed passionately that they are looking forward to the upcoming seminars, with the intention to learn the importance of tourism in Greek economy, the guiding services. The process will conclude by creating themselves a theme route around the historical center of Athens presenting the valuable knowledge received. It is a four-week seminar (42 hours) and the participants will acquire certificates of attendance.
Caritas Hellas organizes and carries out an educational project concerning “Tourism Perspectives and Development of Tour Guiding Skills”. The participants of the educational project are sprung from official Open Accommodation Site for refugees in Attica region.”
The educational program is part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany.
The project is carried out in collaboration with International Organization of Migration.
