On Wednesday, July 24th 2019 an informative seminar was held, at the Social Spot of Caritas Hellas in Neos Kosmos, concerning the subject of “Legal Documents in Greece: Procedures and Steps to acquire them“ to Farsi speaker population, who they reside in UNHCR urban Shelter Program titled “Estia”.
At the seminar, the legal counsellor of Caritas Hellas analysed the procedures and stages that are taking place in the process of recognizing asylum seekers as well as the rights and obligations that accompany them. In addition, there was a discussion about the concepts of AFM, AMKA, the unemployment card and the necessary documents that contribute to the more complete integration of this population in the Greek society. Finally, there was a presentation of the civil rights, concerning the legal and bureaucratic procedures on the issues of birth, name-giving, marriage and death of persons living in Greece.
The seminar was of great success, as the participants understood concepts and processes that are of direct concern to them and often make them face great difficulty in their everyday lives. At the end they received a guide, regarding the rights in the everyday life of a refugee, asylum seeker, immigrant, translated in English, Arabic and farsi.
The seminar will be repeated shortly with interpretation in several other languages to serve an even larger population!
The informative seminar is part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany.
