In the context of the Greek language lessons, that are conducted in the Social Spot of Caritas Hellas, in Neos Kosmos, on Tuesday the 11th of December, another trip was carried out; the students of Greek lessons and the “Discover Athens” group visited the Cultural Center “L.Kanellopoulos” in Eleysina. The “Titan” Corporation, in collaboration with the National Astronomical Observatory and more specifically the scientific panel of educational Meteorology of meteo.gr, designed the interactive exhibition “Secrets of the weather” with subject the climate events and the science of Meteorology.
This way, the beneficiaries had the chance to see meteorological instruments and the way they function, to be informed about the evolution of the science of Meteorology from the times of ancient Greece until today, about the greenhouse effect as well as the impacts of the climate change. The exhibition had videos, simulations, experiments and interactive applications, something that gave the chance to the visitors to understand the creation and the evolution of the weather. Furthermore, there was a Science Officer from the National Astronomical Observatory/ meteo.gr, who gave a detailed tour guide and explained all the exhibits. During the exhibition there were clarifications, by the teacher of Greek lessons, emphasizing the verbal communication, and after the exhibition, followed a discussion of the context and the deeper meaning of the show.

The excursion is a part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany.
