On the 5th of July, the group search workshops at the Social Integration and Employability Center of Caritas Hellas in the Kipseli Municipal Market were launched with great success and unprecedented participation for the summer season.
These workshops are held for the first time in the new area of Caritas Hellas in the neighborhood of Kipseli (42, Fokionos Negri), every Friday 12.00 – 14.30, for the whole of July. They are addressed to Greeks, refugees and migrants who are in a process of looking for a job, but they have a basic familiarity with the Greek or English language. Interpretation can be provided, in French, Arabic or French, in cases of linguistic difficulty, always in accordance with the availability of the Social Center.
At the 1st Workshop, on Friday, the 5th of July, the Job Counselor of Caritas Hellas started with a first presentation of the methods and tools available for job search. Thus, participants were initially trained to evaluate their skills to look for a job that would realistically give them the best chance of finding a job.
They started, in this direction, to learn about job search techniques, both online and offline, even by getting access to printed and electronic media, the ability to respond to interesting ads at that time and to send their CVs on the spot.
The training continued at the next Job Club. During the 2nd workshop, that exceptionally took place on Monday, the 8th of July, we had the pleasure of hosting a representative of Workathlon, a company that operates through a hospitality / tourism employability platform.
As part of the presentation conducted by Mr. Aias Katsaros, we talked about the platform that was created for the interconnection of employers by restaurants, hotels, luxury boats etc with the population looking for work in the relevant sectors.
It was important that we managed to link the population that had been invited to this event precisely on the basis of their work profile and the fields for which they had expressed their interest in previous individual sessions with the Career Counselor of Caritas Hellas. In this way, both between the participants and with Workathlon, a good opportunity was given for a first networking in the field of hospitality and tourism, and a targeted direction towards their next professional steps, which are starting already vigorously!
We thank Workathlon for their presence in our event, and we hope to further develop our excellent cooperation in the future!
The workshops are part of the Program “Social and Economic Integration of Refugees and Immigrants in Athens” concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Program is implemented by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Switzerland.
