The World of Banksy
The youth group of “Discover Athens” of the Social Spot of Caritas Hellas in Neos Kosmos had visited the “The World of Bansky” exhibition in Technopolis in order to honor the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Banksy is a brilliant person, an activist, a director and above all a street artist, who painted in many cites’ walls from the city of Palestine to New Orleans, while his eccentric art is featured in galleries all over the world, especially in the streets of London where he created his legend. The artist was in in West Bank of the Wall that was built from the government of Israel and painted some of the most famous graffities against war, devoted to the world piece. He was introduced via his graffities as an eccentric artist of the 21st century, while he succeeded in remaining anonymous in the era in which everyone and everything have a name.
The young people of the group “entered the World of Bansky” through an interactive experience that they are going to remember. They admired the most famous arts of Bansky and there was an elaboration and discussion, with simultaneous interpretation for every piece of the exhibition and the meanings of them that they were against racism, capitalism and other social matters that are concerning the modern years. The beneficiaries expressed their aspects and took photos with the antiracist and antiwar graffities of the revolutionary artist.
“Destroy racism. Be a panda. He is black. He is white. He is Asian.” Banksy!
The activity is part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany.
