On Monday the 10th of December, on the occasion of the 70 Years from the Declaration of the Human Rights, an Awareness Day was held at the Social Spot of Caritas Hellas in Neos Kosmos.
During the day the beneficiaries watched educational videos and participated in experiential-interactive games, where everyone expressed their opinion about the importance of Human Rights as well as abide by them. There was also a follow up discussion, which was conducted by the legal counselor, regarding the history and the struggles that have been made for the existence of the Human Rights and there was highlighted that it is everyone’s obligation to preserve and disseminate them. Furthermore, the theatrical group of Caritas Hellas presented small improvisations about some of the Human Rights under an emotional atmosphere with a sense of humor.
The Awareness Day finished with a community awareness walk to the neighborhood of Neos Kosmos and the beneficiaries gave away informative flyers about the Human Rights, something that was very touching and moved the residents of the area.
The event is a part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany.
