Games, music, words and numerous smiling faces filled Caritas Hellas’ Social Center in Neos Kosmos on November the 7th! The voluntary team “Young Caritas in Action” held with big success its first autumn activity, aiming at the empowerment and social inclusion of refugees and immigrants, through an initiative of informal education.
In particular, “Lexis project” is an effort to alternatively approach the Greek language through group games and actions, with the view to enhance communication and to build relationships between refugees, immigrants and the local community.
As part of the event, the participants had the opportunity to interact with friends, staff and volunteers of Caritas, share with them moments of humanity and entertainment and make a common journey to the universe of the Greek language!The event also had pleasant surprises, as after a draw, books, dictionaries and fairy tales were distributed to the participants.
After the great success of the event on the 7th of November, Caritas’ young volunteers got very excited and are already planning their future actions!
The event is part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany.
