«Playing and learning» with “LEKSIS Project”
With the occasion of the International Greek language day, it was conducted the second “LEKSIS Project” at the Social Spot of Caritas Hellas in Neos Kosmos, aiming at the empowerment and social inclusion of refugees and immigrants, through an initiative of informal education.
In particular, “Lexis project” is an effort to alternatively approach the Greek language through group games and actions, with the view to enhance communication and to build relationships between refugees, immigrants and the local community.
The teacher created linguistic games and the students have participated with joy. They also played the hangman, scrabble and guess who. Furthermore, they did online tests which show the level of each student in Greek language and linguistic games of vocabulary and grammar. At the end, books with short Greek stories were given to the best participants.
The event is part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany.
