“Legal Documents in Greece: Procedures and Steps to acquire them”

On Tuesday, May 21st, 2019, at the Center for Social Integration and Employability of Caritas Hellas in Kipseli, an informative seminar was held on the subject of “Legal Documents in Greece: Procedures and Steps to acquire them“.

At the seminar, the legal counselor of Caritas Hellas analyzed in detail the procedures and stages that are taking place in the process of recognizing asylum seekers as well as the advantages, rights and obligations that accompany the individuals in each and every step. In addition, we discussed the concepts of AFM, AMKA, the unemployment card and in general the necessary documents that contribute to the more complete integration of this population in the Greek society. Finally, there was a presentation of the so-called “civil rights”, concerning the legal and bureaucratic procedures on the issues of birth, name-giving, marriage and death of persons living in Greece.

The seminar was of great success as it clarified for the participants concepts and processes that are of direct concern to them and often make them face great difficulty in their everyday lives. It will be repeated shortly with interpretation in several other languages to serve an even larger population!

The seminar is part of the Program “Social and Economic Integration of Refugees and Immigrants in Athens” concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Program is implemented by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Switzerland.
