The Theatrical Group of Caritas Hellas explores the Ancient Greek Mythology

The 2nd cycle of the Theatrical Group* of the Social Spot of Caritas Hellas in Neos Kosmos that is consisted of 15 young people from Afghanistan and Iran.

This year’s goal of the group, at the end of the 2nd seminar, is via the theatrical games, the theatrical techniques and improvisations, to create a theatrical play, on June 2019 with main subject The Greek Mythology.

The meetings take place twice per week with relaxation and elocution exercises, theatrical and interactive games. Furthermore, there are conducted improvisations based on a previous analysis of certain myths of Ancient Greek Mythology such as Odyssey, the 12 Olympic Gods, The Creation of the four Seasons and the myth of Daedalus and Icarus.

Most of the young beneficiaries don’t have any previous theatrical knowledge and through this group had the chance to be freed, express themselves and lay out their talent.

*The Theatrical Group of Caritas Hellas in Neos Kosmos was created on November 2017 and it was consisted of young people from Afghanistan and Iran and the creator-coordinator of the group Chalil Alizada.

The whole idea was inspired by the interpreter of Caritas Hellas, Chalil Alizada from Afghanistan who lives in Greece the past 12 years, has studied acting and is engaged with the theater the past 8 years. He has acted in many theatrical plays, movies and television shows of the Greek TV.

The group is part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany.
