Caritas Internationalis Humanitarian Conference
February 19th – 21st, 2019
Caritas Hellas hosts the 2nd International Humanitarian Conference, organised by Caritas Internationalis in Athens. The International Humanitarian Conference has been introduced to the confederation in 2018 (1st Humanitarian Conference in Freiburg, Germany), where both, Caritas Internationalis and member organisations committed to organise it on an annual basis.
Humanitarian crises directly affect more than 140 million people in 37 countries, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA). More than 65 million of these people have been forcibly displaced from their homes — the highest level since the Second World War.
Caritas, with over 160 members globally, works at the grassroots in almost every country of the world. In view of major and complex global issues in the humanitarian field, this Conference enables Caritas to fine-tune its Emergency Response mechanisms and address challenges through innovative approaches.
Fifty (50) Caritas representatives from all over the world are attending the 2nd Humanitarian Conference of Caritas Internationalis, in Athens, the main topics being:
- Optimisation of Caritas Internationalis Emergency Response standards
- Comprehensive Safeguarding: Policies & Procedures
- Localisation Agenda
- Cash Transfer Programming
