On Saturday, 13th of April, Caritas Hellas participated in the established Philanthropic Bazaar of the Jeanne d’ Arc School of Piraeus, with photographic material from the exhibition “Athens, my City”. Employees of Caritas, members of the photographic team as well as young volunteers “Young Caritas In Action” attended the event.
The photos were the fruit of the 3-month Training Seminar of the “METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece”, concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society, funded by the German Foreign Ministry and Caritas Germany.
The photographic group of the Social Spot of Neos Kosmos is consisted of 28 refugees and asylum seekers, aged between 16 and 41 from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Ukraine, Pakistan and Ghana. The 28 participants were introduced to the secrets and techniques photography, by taking photos of the city of Athens through the “lens” of their own culture and their own experiences.
The visitors of the Bazaar met the artists, were informed about the work of Caritas Hellas by the employees and read with interest the exhibition’s photo album! The event completed with big success, raising awareness about the refugee crisis.
The activity is a part of the «METAVASIS Project – Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece» concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Project is run by Caritas Hellas and is funded by Caritas Germany
