On Wednesday, 22/05/2019, a group of students of Missouri University (Health Studies) of U.S.A visited Caritas Hellas in Neos Kosmos. The day began with a presentation of the activities and services offered by Caritas Hellas. More specifically, the students were informed about the refugee crisis in Greece and the work and actions of Caritas Hellas regarding the following areas: the Neos Kosmos Social House, the Social Spot in Neos Kosmos, the Listening Center, which deals with clothing distribution and with supportive afterschool classes for children and Emergency Appeal (EA22) where, among other services, it offers interpreters in hospitals to serve migrants and refugees. Then it followed a discussion and the students expressed their questions.

At the end, the students visited the Neos Kosmos Social House of Caritas Hellas and they had an induction moment in the project’s community activities drinking tea and discussing with the beneficiaries of the House. Then, the students along with the children who are attending the afterschool project activities organized an Art Workshop. That visit concluded with a fun activity that facilitated to “get to know you” questions, gathering altogether in a circle. That common activity was a great experience for all of us, encouraging positive interaction!
