On Friday, 24/05/2019, and Monday, 27/5/2019, two groups of students of the San Diego State University (Humanitarian Studies) in California visited Caritas Hellas in Neos Kosmos.
The students along with their group leaders were informed about the refugee crisis in Greece, the interventions and actions of Caritas Hellas, the services and activities provided by the Community Shelter Project in the district of Neos Kosmos. Our discussion with the students followed by interesting conversations with the guests of the Social House.
Τhe students, also, visited the Listening Centre on the Armenian Catholic Church premises, where the educational project activities for refugee and local children are being implemented. In particular, the students along with the children run a collage art workshop and organised interactive games off the premises. At the end, they exchanged souvenir gifts!
Overall, both the students and the beneficiaries of Caritas Hellas were very excited and happy for that visit and they cannot wait for the next one!It was such a beautiful and interesting experience spreading the positive message of interaction across cultures and diverse groups.
The activity is part of the Collaborating & Progressing Project – Accommodation and support for refugees and migrants in Athens
